1st August 2006 – Private Venture Capital Firm Aspiration Capital Management LLP Launched by Dr Jeremy Howard
Today saw the launch of a new UK-based private venture capital company dedicated to the internet, media and software space. Aspiration Capital Management LLP was founded by former investment banker Dr Jeremy Howard and is backed by an undisclosed number of private investors. The company is a private vehicle and is not soliciting funds from the public or from institutions at this time.
Founder and Chief Investment Officer Dr Howard said:
"The internet continues to disrupt established business practices and to create opportunities for new entrants. Many of these companies are the stars of the future. Our role is to identify these stars at an early stage and to nurture them through to profitability.
We aim to fill the niche above angel investors but below the private equity funds that have looked for larger and larger deals over the past few years.
The UK still lags behind the US in many areas of e-commerce and software development. Part of our mission will be to isolate opportunities that have worked well in the US, but have not yet been transported into the UK market."
The fund is mostly orientated towards start ups and micro-caps, but it will look at established companies under the right circumstances.
